World Religions Conference

World Religions Conference

For over 20 years, SOFREE has been an active participant at the annual World Religions Conference (WRC), contributing Humanist perspectives on ethical and philosophical discussions. This annual event provides an invaluable opportunity for us to engage with attendees from a wide range of cultural and religious backgrounds, address questions with clarity and openness, and dispel myths and misconceptions about secularism, atheism, and Humanism. Our participation includes songs or readings from Humanist literature that align with each year’s theme, and our booth offers Humanist resources, friendly conversation, and community-building opportunities.

The WRC is a major multi-faith event held each autumn in Waterloo. It brings together individuals and representatives from diverse worldviews—including religious traditions and non-religious philosophies—to exchange ideas on timely issues and thought-provoking themes. Through presentations and audience participation, the conference creates a unique space where different perspectives can be shared on how to understand the world around us. The overarching aim of this event is to gain a better understanding of each other, and encourage harmony, acceptance, and cooperation across diverse communities.

Admission to the WRC is complimentary and includes parking, midday snacks, coffee, tea, juices, and water. Each year’s program features a changing roster of speakers representing Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Indigenous Spirituality, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, and Humanism represented by atheists committed to reason, compassion, and intellectual integrity.
