Join us Tuesday, September 9 for Movie Night in Waterloo
Featured Film: Norma Rae

Based on a true story, this 1979 film follows a textile worker in North Carolina who becomes an unlikely leader in the fight for human dignity and fairness in an oppressive and exploitative work environment. Played by Sally Field in an Oscar-winning performance, Norma Rae is a young mother who, inspired by the arrival of a New York union organizer and driven by personal responsibility and moral urgency, begins to challenge the harsh and unjust conditions of the mill where she works. While she appeals for labour rights and unionization, she jeopardizes her livelihood and faces opposition from managers, co-workers, and even her family. This film is a powerful portrait of reason, courage, and collective action, highlighting the role of conscience, compassion, and determination in the pursuit of social justice and progress. Starring: Sally Field, Beau Bridges, and Ron Leibman.
